THE IMAGE ID FIELD GUIDE

How to Use Roblox Image IDs

Set up a Roblox Studio ImageLabel with an image ID. Follow our locally tested steps, with exact settings and a clear explanation of resource types.

Start with the right resource

Copy the number printed on a card and note its Image or Decal label. A decal references an image, and their IDs may differ. This directory only shows a related Image ID when that relationship has been independently verified.

Open the original source and check permissions before use. A working preview tells you a thumbnail was available when checked; it does not confirm that your experience can load the resource.

Scenario: an image on a Studio screen

This walkthrough is for a Roblox Studio ImageLabel. A game’s decorating tool may have different steps or accept different resources. Follow that experience’s instructions when you are using its own input field.

  1. Open your project in Studio and show Explorer and Properties. Select StarterGui. Open Window → Insert Object, search for ScreenGui and select it. With that ScreenGui selected, search for and insert an ImageLabel.
  2. Select the ImageLabel. Filter Properties for Image and edit the Image row. Use rbxassetid:// followed immediately by a verified Image ID. Our local example used rbxassetid://8073107221, the actual image referenced by Decal 8073107254. These are two different IDs.
  3. Filter Properties for Size and set it to {0, 200}, {0, 200}. Set Position to {0.5, -100}, {0.5, -100} to center this 200 × 200 element. Keep Visible enabled and ImageTransparency at 0.
  4. Save the local project. Start Test using the Play triangle and inspect the Client view. We confirmed this image appeared in the player’s interface. Stop returns to the editor; publishing is not needed for this check.

In this Studio version, editing Image also updated ImageContent. Our example loaded successfully; using its Decal ID directly in the runtime Image field failed to load. Use the verified related Image ID rather than guessing a numeric offset.

Read Roblox’s label setup guide and ImageLabel image property reference for other versions and controls.

Putting an image on a part

A Decal applies a picture to a face of a part. Our separate local check loaded 20 Decals on parts, but this manual guide covers ImageLabel setup. The manual ColorMapContent and Face workflow was not checked here. Follow the official texture and decal steps for that workflow.

Keep the evidence separate

Preview availability, open-use permissions and a successful local test are different facts. This unpublished project had no experience-specific permission grant to test. The same ID may behave differently in a game’s decorating input.
